The Blanchard Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of part-time communications officer. Applicants must be 18 years of age, with a high school diploma or GED, no felony convictions, no crimes involving moral turpitude or involvement in crimes of domestic violence. CLEET certification is desired, but not required. The successful candidate must be able to pass a rigorous background examination, physical agility and written tests, and demonstrate he or she possesses high standards of character and a willingness to serve the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for dispatching police, fire, and emergency services, maintaining the 911 system, and supervision of prisoners in the municipal jail. Experience is not required, as the successful candidate will be trained for the position. If employment is offered the communications officer will be required to complete a 160 hour Field Training Program. Applications may be obtained at the Blanchard Police Department at 117 W.
